DFDM, working alongside the client, Avon Capital Estates, and a team of Bristol's leading professionals, received full detailed planning consent (May 2024) via delegated authority, for proposals which both Design West and University of Bristol described as an 'exemplar design'.

Working from Stage 1 onwards, DFDM has co-ordinated the team and managed the design and planning process, to enable the consent to be delivered in the shortest time frame possible.  The project is located next to the River Avon and incorporates flood defences in line with the Bristol & Avon Flood Strategy and has been designed following extensive co-ordination with the Environment Agency and BCC Flood and Structures teams.  The development is planned to be completed to allow a 2027 student intake and the DFDM Project Management Team is co-ordinating Phase 2 SI and archaeological investigations and preparing a site enabling package of works to deliver a fully remediated site, clear of services and below ground obstructions, to de-risk ahead of the main construction contract.
